Curriculum vitae
Graduated in Agricultural Sciences at the University of Padova (1988); Researcher and teacher at the University of Padova (UNIPD) since 1992. Associate professor in Animal Breeding and Genetics (1999 – 2005). Full professor in Animal Breeding and Genetics (2005-). Leading scientist in more than 40 research projects. Author and co-author of more than 300 original scientific documents, including peer-reviewed research papers (117) and communications at national and international congresses. Current H-index is 32 (Scopus, September 2025). President of the Bachelor Course in Animal Science and Technology (20012003) and of the Master of Science Course in Veterinary Medicine (2008-2012) at UNIPD. Coordinator of the Conservation, Management and Improvement of Animal Genetic Resources PhD program (2000-2005). Expert at the Italian Ministry of Agriculture for the Italian Simmental Cattle breeding program. Research areas The current research activity of Paolo Carnier is focused on the integration of “omics” data and innovative phenotyping tools in pig breeding programs, on the genetic relationships between feed e iciency and pork quality for dry-cured ham production, and on the genetics of boar taint in intact heavy pigs.​
