Curriculum vitae
Valentina Bonfatti obtained a Ph.D. in Animal Science (curriculum of Animal Breeding and Genetics) at the University of Padova in 2010. After 4 years of post-doctoral experience, she was appointed research scientist in 2014, and tenure track research scientist in 2017. Since 2020, she is associate professor of Animal Breeding and Genetics at the Department of Comparative Biomedicine and Food Science of the same university. Her research activity involves the study of the genetic and genomic variation of traits of interest for the major livestock species, the development of innovative techniques to enable large-scale phenotyping of animal populations through the use of high-throughput methods, and the integration of these methods in animal breeding programs. She is author of more than 45 scientific papers published in top journals, speaker at national and international conferences, and reviewer for several international peer-reviewed scientific journals. She was visiting scientist at the University of Guelph (Guelph, Canada) in 2015-2016, Agriculture Victoria (Melbourne, Australia) in 2017-2018, and China Agricultural University (Beijing, China) in 2023.
