Dear PhD Students,

You are kindly invited to the first UNIPhD Annual Network Meeting, that will take place on Friday, 9 June 2023 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Fiore di Botta building, University of Padua (via del Pescarotto, 8, 35131 Padua, https://goo.gl/maps/HqMC8mRuTcpoBgTT8).

This single-day event focuses on “Communicating research” and challenges UNIPhD Fellows to both effectively present their projects to colleagues from other disciplines and to exchange ideas and methodologies across fields of knowledge other than their own.
The UNIPhD Programme welcomes the most promising doctoral candidates coming to the University of Padua from all over the world to pursue a brand new International, Intersectoral, Interdisciplinary and Innovative “training through research” experience. UNIPhD seeks to train a highly-skilled and versatile future generation of researchers to become successful, responsible and innovative leaders in their areas of expertise. It aims at enhancing the researchers’ capacity to respond to urgent challenges emerging around us, while boosting their employability in academia and non-academia worldwide.
In the UNIPhD Annual Network Meeting, international keynote speakers will share their experiences and suggestions on how to best communicate and disseminate research.
The initiative will be a great opportunity for networking and meeting the 39 Fellows recruited on the UNIPhD project, their Supervisors, UNIPhD Governing Bodies and partners, as well as local stakeholders.
A poster and a three-minute pitch competition will be at the centre of the day, as to present UNIPhD Fellows research ideas. Winners will be recognized a prize in the final award ceremony.

Seminar - Regenerative Agriculture: principles and applications

Regeneative Agriculture: principles and applications
On 30th May 2023 at 10:00. The seminar will be held in "Aula multimediale DAFNAE" II Stecca, University of Padua, Agripolis campus.

By: Dr. Daniele Cesano

Regenerative Agriculture is a concept that includes agroecology, agroforestry, permaculture, restoration ecology, rewilding, and other approaches focused on active ecosystem improvement by leveraging ecosystem functions. It is a set of farming and grazing practices that, among other benefits, reverse climate change by rebuilding soil organic matter and restoring degraded soil biodiversity – resulting in both carbon drawdown and improving the water cycle.
Specific Regenerative Agriculture techniques are successful in replenishing microclimates and favoring water infiltration helping to reconstitute the local water cycle.
Simultaneously these practices drastically reduce water use and the chemical pollution impacting ground and surface water. Recent research is also investigating on the higher nutrition content sand density of food produced through regenerative agriculture.  Furthermore, regenerative agriculture is a path toward climate resiliency and adaptation that help mitigating the production fluctuation increasing the well-being of farmers and their communities as well as securing the supplying of raw material to industries. A growing body of scientific research, as well as proven examples from financially successful regenerative agriculture farmers, is starting to bring this into light as a real solution.
