Curriculum vitae
Alessio Cecchinato obtained a M.S. in Agricultural Science from the University of Padova (Italy) in 2005, and a PhD in Animal Science, major in Genetics, Biostatistics, Biodiversity and Biotechnologies from the same University in 2009. He started his career as Assistant Professor in 2008 at the Department of Animal Science, then moved to the Department of Agronomy, Food, Natural resources, Animals and Environment (University of Padova) where he became, first, Associate Professor in 2014 and then Full Professor in 2021.
He is President and coordinator of the 1st level University Degree in Animal Science and Technology, School of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, University of Padova. Member of the teaching staff of the Doctoral Course in Animal and Food Science and coordinator of the all teaching activities within the PhD school, including also the responsibility of all advanced statistics courses.
Alessio Cecchinato is currently secretary (elected) of the Animal Genetics commission of the European Federation of Animal Science (EAAP) and Senior Editor of the Italian Journal of Animal Science. He is also Member of Scientific Board of Animal Journal (The International Journal of Animal Biosciences). The research activity is documented by more than 200 publications (177 are peer-reviewed scientific papers).
Research areas
The current research activity of Alessio Cecchinato deals with emerging issues in animal science, animal breeding and genetics, such as innovative breeding tools for enhancing milk quality, fertility and health traits in dairy cattle. In particular, scientific research has focused on the development of predictive models as well as the integration of "omics" data for the prediction of novel phenotypes related to milk quality, fertility and animal health status.
